The History Of Bexley

Col. Lincoln Kilbourne, a prominent early resident, originally named the town of Bexley. He named it after his family’s roots in the village of Bexley, England. Bexley was incorporated in 1908 when multiple nearby communities decided to merge into one village. In 1932, Bexley transitioned from a village to a city, and its first mayor, William A. Schneider, was elected in 1935. Since the 1950s, the population of Bexley has been steadily hovering around 13,000.

Bexley is located just 3.5 Miles east of Downtown Columbus. It sits between the East Freeway and Highway 670, as well as being located right on E Broad St and E Main St, two major avenues in Columbus.
